Dear Parents/Guardians, My name is Michelle Gibbs and I teach grade 7 Arts, Phy.Ed., History, Geography, Math and Science. I am involved in student life as I coach multiple sports and clubs. Here are a few simple guidelines for students to follow:
1. Be punctual 2. Be prepared 3. Be polite
Technology is an integral part of my teaching, and I often involve students to use their personal devices in class. Students are welcome to bring their phones/tablets into my classroom in case we need to use them, but these devices are stored in a “parking lot”, and not with the students during class. If your child doesn’t have a device or would rather not bring it to school, we have a class set of laptops and iPads to borrow. I also have a handful of math sets and calculators for students to borrow, but students are welcome to bring their own. If you need input as to which ones to buy, I’d be happy to help.
Homework and Agenda Math homework is to be expected daily. I recommend using the school agenda to keep track of daily homework and other important dates. I think it’s beneficial to review math concepts daily and practice the multiplication table (e.g., flash cards) to gain speed and accuracy.
My Family Room You will receive regular school updates when you signed up for My Family Room. This will also place you in appropriate parent groups, so you’ll receive updates whenever a teacher sends out a mass email to all the parents in the class. This is also handy if your child lives in separate households, both parents will get the same information from teachers and the school. Physical Education Students are required to change for gym, for example, a t-shirt and a pair of shorts and appropriate shoes to wear. Students bring their dirty gym clothes home on Friday to be washed. At North Dundas we have a variety of sport teams to join (e.g., cross-country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, 3-pitch and T&F).
